Viral Video Linking VVPAT Slip Removal to 2024 Lok Sabha Elections is False

A viral video showing a man removing slips from a voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) is being falsely linked to the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. The video, which has been traced back to at least December 2022, shows a scene from a strong room in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar constituency. The Collector and District Magistrate of Bhavnagar has confirmed that the VVPAT slips were removed and put in a black envelope as per the instructions given by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The ECI’s website also provides instructions on the steps to be followed to remove the VVPAT slips after the completion of voting.

Video of Old Kerala Rally Shared as Recent

A video of a rally where ‘anti-Hindu’ slogans were reportedly raised is being shared as a recent event. The rally allegedly took place in Kerala, and claims allege that it was organized by the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’s member, the Muslim League. However, the video is not recent and dates back to 2023. The rally was part of a protest against violence in Manipur, and slogans threatening to hang Hindus in front of temples and burn them alive were allegedly chanted.
