Anees Bazmee’s ‘Welcome’ Had a Surprising Reaction in Trial Show, Says Director

Director Anees Bazmee recently opened up about the challenges and surprises he faced during the making of his comedy blockbuster ‘Welcome.’ Released in 2007, the film starring Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, and Akshay Kumar, is still considered a cult classic today.

Bazmee revealed that he was extremely unwell during the shoot, even suffering from a nosebleed while filming a particularly funny scene in the hospital. Despite his condition, Bazmee managed to capture one of the film’s most iconic sequences.

Adding to the drama, a trial show of ‘Welcome’ to 200 people before its release was met with a puzzling reaction. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala was worried as the audience remained utterly unresponsive. However, Bazmee stood by his conviction, and the film went on to become a massive hit, proving that sometimes the best comedy can come from unexpected circumstances.
