The repair of the Whitemud Drive overpass at Anthony Henday Drive in Edmonton, damaged in June 2023 by a semi-trailer carrying an excavator, has been delayed until February 2025. Drivers are frustrated by the continued traffic disruptions and safety concerns, particularly during winter months.
Edmonton police are investigating 12 instances of rocks or heavy objects being thrown from an overpass onto Whitemud Drive in the west end between March 27 and June 22, 2024. These incidents have caused significant damage to vehicles and could have resulted in serious injuries. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
