Evacuations Ordered in Northwestern Alberta Due to Wildfire

Residents in northwestern Alberta’s Municipal District of Peace No. 135 have been ordered to evacuate immediately due to the threat of wildfire. The fire covers approximately 250 hectares and is moving rapidly in the Peace River Valley. Evacuees are advised to head east to Grimshaw, Alta., and register at the Royal Canadian Legion. The province is using water bombers and helicopter bucketing to help contain the fire.

Wildfire Forces Evacuations in Eastern Alberta

Residents of the First Nation of Cold Lake Number 149 (Legoff) in eastern Alberta were ordered to evacuate their homes Monday afternoon due to a wildfire in the area. The fire is burning in the area from Range Road 430 to Range Road 434, and all homes in the area must evacuate to the local community hall. The size of the fire and when it began are not yet known, but Alberta Wildfire is providing mutual aid on the fire.

Wildfire Alert Issued for Lac Ste Anne County

A wildfire alert has been issued for Lac Ste Anne County, with a wildfire burning west of Bilby Common and heading east. Residents of Bilby Common have been asked to be prepared to evacuate within 30 minutes, using Range Road 15 north to Highway 37, and then west to Onoway. The reception centre is the Onoway Heritage Centre at 4708 Lac Ste Anne Trail North.
