Windrush Scandal: Home Office Accused of Discrimination in Dropping Review Recommendations

A legal claim has been brought against the Home Office by a Windrush victim, alleging unlawful discrimination in the decision to drop recommendations aimed at addressing the historic mistreatment of the Windrush generation. The independent Windrush Lessons Learned Review, published in 2020, made 30 recommendations, but three were subsequently abandoned by the Home Office. The claim argues that this decision violated the claimant’s rights under the European Convention on Human Rights and amounts to direct discrimination against the Windrush and Black and Asian communities.
