Despite having a significant electorate, Assam has witnessed a concerning decline in the number of women candidates contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Out of the 14 constituencies in the state, only 12 female candidates are in the race, a decrease from the previous count of 14. This trend has been ongoing since the 2014 polls, mirroring a broader national pattern.
