The incident took place when a mound of soil collapsed into a pit, burying the three workers. Despite the prompt arrival of authorities and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), one worker, identified as Siddhu Marandi from Jharkhand, was pronounced dead at the Civil Hospital. Police investigations have revealed that the accident occurred around 4 pm during the construction of a multi-storey residential complex by Signature Global. Protests and damage to an ambulance ensued, leading to legal action against the builder and contractor. The incident highlights concerns about negligence and safety standards at construction sites, as the deceased worker’s family has lodged a complaint, and authorities have initiated legal proceedings under sections 304 A (causing death due to rash or negligent act) and 337 (causing injuries) of the Indian Penal Code.
