MSA Safety’s 2023 Impact Report Highlights Commitment to Protecting Workers Globally

MSA Safety, a global leader in safety solutions, has released its 2023 Impact Report, highlighting its commitment to protecting workers through innovative products and solutions. The report details the company’s progress in its Corporate Social Responsibility program, focusing on Products and Solutions, People, and Planet. Notably, MSA Safety estimates it helped protect 40 million workers globally in 2023.

QCOs to Enhance Safety Standards for Textiles in Construction

To improve worker safety in the construction sector, the Indian government plans to implement Quality Control Orders (QCOs) for 11 key textile products. These QCOs aim to enhance the quality of protective clothing, scaffolding nets, ropes, and tarpaulins used by construction workers. The move aligns with the government’s focus on reducing cheap product dumping from China and promoting quality control in domestic manufacturing and supply chains.

Climate Change Poses Health Hazards to Workers Worldwide, UN Warns

A significant portion of the global workforce faces health risks due to climate change, including excessive heat, UV radiation, air pollution, vector-borne diseases, and agrochemicals. The ILO estimates that 2.4 billion workers were exposed to excessive heat in 2020, with almost 23 million occupational injuries and 19,000 deaths attributed to it annually. Other climate-related health conditions include cancer, cardiovascular disease, respiratory illnesses, kidney dysfunction, and mental health issues.
