Vinesh Phogat’s appeal against her disqualification from the women’s 50kg freestyle category at the World Wrestling Championships has been postponed. The hearing, which took place virtually on Friday, saw arguments presented by both Vinesh’s legal team and representatives of the United World Wrestling. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has extended the deadline for both parties to submit additional documents, delaying the final decision.
Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s appeal against her disqualification at the World Wrestling Championships has been deferred to August 11. The CAS will issue a reasoned order later. Vinesh initially sought reinstatement for the gold medal bout but later requested a joint silver medal.
