Crossplay Confirmed for Monster Hunter Wilds in 2025

Monster Hunter Wilds, the upcoming entry in the popular hunting game franchise, will feature crossplay across all platforms when it launches in 2025. This is a significant step forward for the series, as previous games have had issues with staggered launches and the inability to play with friends on other systems. The news was confirmed during the Summer Game Fest live stream, where series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto mentioned that he hopes players look forward to playing with their friends on different platforms. The trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds showcased more of the desert sand dunes we’ve seen from the game previously, but this time, we got a look at a new large-scale monster. This lightning bird is seen charging up and dealing out devastating lightning-based attacks against smaller Balaharas and even the hunters. It’s a deadly foe that we’re sure to see more of soon.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Official Cinematic World Premiere Trailer

Ubisoft unveiled the first trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, showcasing two intriguing protagonists: Yasuke, the historical black samurai, and Naoe, a skilled Japanese shinobi. The open-world RPG set in 16th-century Japan is scheduled for release on November 15, 2024, across multiple platforms. The trailer hints at the unique playstyles of Yasuke and Naoe, with Yasuke excelling in direct combat and Naoe specializing in stealth. Notably, Yasuke is the first real-life historical figure to become a central character in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The trailer also features Fujibayashi Nagato, a prominent shinobi from the Iga Province and Naoe’s father in the game. Ubisoft is building anticipation for Assassin’s Creed Shadows in the lead-up to its official reveal at Ubisoft Forward on June 10th.

Redfall: A Disappointing Compromise Between Single-Player and Multiplayer

Redfall, the latest game from Arkane Studios, is a confusing blend of immersive sim and open-world co-op shooter that ultimately fails to excel at either. Despite strong writing, fine-tuned gunplay, and an interesting setting, the game is plagued by multiplayer design oversights, rough presentation, and poor AI, making it a surprising disappointment from an acclaimed developer.

Initially, the game captivates with striking visual moments and powerful storytelling. However, these promising elements are overshadowed by design compromises that weaken the single-player experience. The open-world feels empty and repetitive, while side missions are uninspired. In multiplayer, cutscenes become glorified slideshows, dialogue loses its impact, and the narrative is compromised.

Redfall’s technical issues further hinder the experience. The Xbox Series X version runs at a choppy 30 frames per second, and both the console and PC versions suffer from crashes, disconnects, and various graphical glitches. With no further updates planned, it’s unlikely that these issues will be fully resolved.

Overall, Redfall is a missed opportunity that fails to deliver on its potential. While it offers a competent shooting experience, the design and technical flaws make it a subpar adventure that feels misguided at its core.
