Judge’s Homer Helps Yankees Beat A’s

Aaron Judge hit a two-run homer in the first inning after nearly striking out, and the host New York Yankees went on to record a 7-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday night. Judge’s home run gave the Yankees a 2-0 lead, and Anthony Rizzo and Juan Soto also homered for New York. Anthony Volpe added an RBI triple, and Alex Verdugo contributed a sacrifice fly. Oakland’s Brent Rooker hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Yankees’ offensive outburst. New York starter Clarke Schmidt allowed three runs on four hits in 5 1/3 innings, while Oakland starter Joe Boyle gave up two runs on three hits in three innings.
