Intense wind gusts and thunderstorms are expected, particularly in the evening. A hoarding in Pimpri Chinchwad collapsed onto a mini truck due to strong winds, but no injuries were reported.

Yellow Alert for Rainfall in Rajasthan, Thunderstorms Expected Till May 13

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for rainfall in 27 districts across Rajasthan, including Ajmer, Alwar, Banswara, Baran, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dausa, Dholpur, Dungarpur, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Kota, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur, Sikar, Sirohi, Tonk, Udaipur, Bikaner, Churu, Hanumangarh, and Nagaur. The weather center in Jaipur has predicted a spell of thunderstorms in various districts of Rajasthan on Sunday. Duststorms and thunderstorms with gusty winds are likely to prevail over the state till May 13, with winds expected to reach 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.

Scorching Heat Wave Subsides in India; Rainfall Relief Predicted

Several Indian states experienced scorching temperatures on Saturday, with maximums ranging from 42-45°C. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a respite from the extreme heat in many regions from May 5 to May 9. Regions such as Telangana, Vidarbha, Rayalaseema, interior Odisha, north interior Karnataka, Marathwada, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, and east Uttar Pradesh endured temperatures between 40-45°C. Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh recorded the highest temperature at 46 degrees Celsius for the third consecutive day on Saturday. The IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms in Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand from May 5-9. Scattered light to moderate rainfall is expected in east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh during the same period. Similar rainfall is likely in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and Karnataka from May 6-9.
