This intuitive tool allows travelers to select their interests, whether it’s indulging in a relaxing massage and spa experience, savoring Michelin-starred cuisine, or conquering a thrilling skywalk, and the AI instantly generates a tailored travel plan.
Thiratida Kuvantharai, CEO of TAGTHAi, expressed the company’s commitment to harnessing data-driven technologies to curate journeys that resonate with every traveler. She highlighted the alignment with the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s (TAT) vision to digitally transform the tourism ecosystem, solidifying Thailand’s position as a leading destination and driving high-value growth within the sector.
The ‘Design My Trip’ tool addresses a common challenge faced by international travelers: navigating the overwhelming complexity of finding reliable in-destination information scattered across numerous online platforms. By simplifying this process, it reduces travel anxiety and ensures travelers can easily discover and enjoy the diverse attractions and experiences Thailand has to offer.
The initial early-access version of ‘Design My Trip’ focuses on the Bangkok Metropolitan Region, crafting itineraries for one to three days. Seamlessly integrated with Google Maps APIs, the tool optimizes itineraries by minimizing travel time between destinations and provides convenient access to maps, reviews, and other essential details.
Since its launch in June 2024, ‘Design My Trip’ has garnered significant traction, generating customized travel plans for thousands of TAGTHAi users, demonstrating the growing popularity of this user-centric feature. The tool’s ability to curate unique and localized travel itineraries is powered by TAGTHAi’s extensive database of travel insights, which is continuously updated. This resource is further enhanced by contributions from TAGTHAi’s network of 48 public and private sector partners across Thailand, providing authentic recommendations and up-to-the-minute points of interest. With data streamed almost in real-time to Google Cloud’s BigQuery platform, the app ensures that all itineraries are based on the latest travel insights. When a user selects their preferences, the tool taps into this rich data source to craft itineraries with the most relevant and up-to-date recommendations.
Kanokwan Boonchai, Chief Operating and Technology Officer of TAGTHAi, emphasized the instrumental role of Google Cloud’s integrated data and AI capabilities and deep expertise in generative AI operations in bringing ‘Design My Trip’ to life. She highlighted the remarkable achievement of going from concept to production-ready solution in just four months, a feat initially projected to take years. This rapid development was made possible by Google Cloud’s ability to streamline the creation of data-to-AI workflows that power ‘Design My Trip’ while efficiently processing the massive volume of data from TAGTHAi’s numerous partners. The platform’s Vertex AI provides built-in tools for monitoring and evaluating model performance, ensuring the quality and accuracy of AI-generated itineraries. The early-access version of ‘Design My Trip’ has already received positive feedback from users, with a recent survey revealing 90% satisfaction with the tool. TAGTHAi looks forward to continued collaboration with Google Cloud to innovate quickly and deliver new features that exceed user expectations.
Annop Siritikul, Country Director, Thailand, Google Cloud, highlighted the positive impact of TAGTHAi’s adoption of generative AI on user sentiment and increased purchases of its all-in-one travel pass offerings. He emphasized that this success exemplifies the real-world business impact organizations are seeing as they move their generative AI projects from proof-of-concept into production. He recognized that successful AI adoption goes beyond just having access to capable models. It’s about grounding the models in high-quality enterprise data and using these connections to steer model behavior, thereby creating more accurate and relevant AI-powered experiences for customers. As Thailand strives to sustain its growth in international tourism, Google Cloud is committed to supporting TAGTHAi and the broader travel ecosystem in elevating their digital competitiveness and driving tangible business results with the industry’s most enterprise-ready generative AI platform.
Later this year, the full version of ‘Design My Trip’ will offer expanded capabilities, enabling travelers to plan longer trips and explore additional regions such as Chiang Mai and Phuket. Users will have the ability to further customize their AI-generated itineraries, share them with others for group travel planning, and even purchase e-tickets directly within the app for a seamless booking experience. Currently available in English and Thai, TAGTHAi plans to extend the language offerings, leveraging the multi-language capabilities of the Gemini models to include Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and other languages to better serve international visitors. This expansion will make it even easier for travelers from around the world to explore the diverse and captivating wonders of Thailand.
