Taitung County, Taiwan, is set to make a splash at the 2024 FIND Design Fair Asia in Singapore with its “Ripples of the Pacific” exhibition. Under the leadership of the Taitung County Government, the event will showcase the exquisite craftsmanship of local artisans, immersing visitors in the rich tapestry of Austronesian heritage.
From September 26 to 28, the Marina Bay Sands Convention Center will become a vibrant hub of creativity as Taitung’s artistry takes center stage. The exhibition, located in Hall F – 1E20, will feature the works of five renowned Taitung artisans: Cottonhemp, the Abus Bunun Traditional Weaving Workshop, Jiao, Chen Shu-Yen, and Kuciling Katatepan. These talented individuals will present a diverse array of textiles, glasswork, bark crafts, and intricate wood carvings, offering a tangible glimpse into the region’s artistic heritage.
Joining them will be six international resident artists, each bringing their unique perspectives and artistic expressions to the exhibit. This collaboration highlights the global reach of Austronesian culture, with works including bark crafts, mixed media, ceramics, and metalwork, all reflecting the deep cultural roots of the Pacific Islands.
Adding to the exhibition’s immersive experience will be a captivating performance by Anu, the lead singer of the Bisalzu Music group. On Thursday, September 26, at 2:00 PM, Anu will grace the stage with a powerful rendition of ancient Bunun chants, transporting attendees to the heart of Taitung’s cultural heritage.
