Private Division and Wētā Workshop have unveiled a captivating trailer for ‘Tales of the Shire,’ a game that immerses players in the charming and cozy world of the Shire from the renowned Lord of the Rings series.
Slated for release in the latter half of 2024 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X, ‘Tales of the Shire’ invites players to create and customize their own Hobbit, settling into a cozy Hobbit home and embarking on daily activities like farming, fishing, foraging, and gardening. The end goal? To bring the Bywater community together for the grandest Bywater Festival.
Drawing inspiration from J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved Middle-earth universe, the game grants players the ability to create a unique Hobbit experience, choosing from an array of customization options and decorating their humble abode with a variety of furniture and décor.
Beyond the home, the Shire offers a plethora of relaxing activities. Cast your line in the Bywater Pool to catch shimmering trout, gather wild mushrooms, and bake delicious pies to share with friends and neighbors. Embark on a journey of exploration, building relationships with the locals as you assist in gardening, share daily meals, and contribute to the community.
‘Tales of the Shire,’ initially announced in fall 2022, is a product of the collaboration between Private Division and Wētā Workshop’s new in-house video game division, Wētā Workshop Game Studio. As one of five upcoming Lord of the Rings games announced by Embracer Group, the rights-holder of the franchise, ‘Tales of the Shire’ remains on track for its 2024 release date despite Embracer Group’s restructuring efforts.
