talkSPORT pundits Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara engaged in a heated debate following Chelsea’s 5-0 defeat to Arsenal on Tuesday night.
Cundy, a former Chelsea player, argued that Arsenal’s first-half performance was “average,” despite the Gunners taking an early lead through Leandro Trossard.
“Right, first-half, I thought Arsenal were average. After the first four minutes, we were poor,” Cundy said on talkSPORT’s The Sports Bar. “I felt for Alfie Gilchrist making his Premier League debut.”
However, O’Hara vehemently disagreed, interrupting Cundy to ask: “What game were you watching? Are you having a laugh?”
“Arsenal weren’t at it,” Cundy insisted, prompting O’Hara to reply: “You’re joking!”
Cundy maintained his stance, but O’Hara countered: “Chances? Jase, sorry mate, hold on. Don’t come on here… I know you’re a Chelsea man, don’t come on here and say that Arsenal were average in the first half, mate.
“It could’ve been 4-0 at half-time. You got absolutely battered. I think Mykhailo Mudryk had one cross where Jackson might have poked his head on it, that was it, mate.
“You got totally dominated, totally outclassed, totally overrun, don’t come on here and say that you were alright. Come on, mate.”
The debate continued, with Cundy accusing O’Hara of being distracted during the match.
“J, you were probably on your phone again texting someone,” Cundy said.
O’Hara laughed and reiterated: “You were miles off it, you weren’t at it, you were rubbish.”
Trossard opened the scoring for Arsenal after just four minutes, with Ben White and Kai Havertz adding two goals each in the second half. The result leaves Chelsea ninth in the Premier League table, with their hopes of finishing in the top seven and qualifying for Europe in doubt.
