Actor Tamannaah Bhatia has been summoned by the Maharashtra cyber cell for her alleged involvement in promoting a subsidiary of the Mahadev online betting and gaming app. According to reports, Bhatia had been allegedly promoting the viewing of the Indian Premier Matches (IPL) matches on the Fairplay app, which is owned by the Mahadev Group. Bhatia has been summoned to appear before the cyber cell next week, as a witness.
The Maharashtra cyber cell has already recorded statements from other Bollywood celebrities in connection with the case, including Baadshah and managers of Sanjay Dutt and Jacqueline Fernandez. The cyber cell is investigating the alleged involvement of these celebrities in promoting online betting and gambling activities.
FairPlay is a betting exchange platform which offers a variety of sports and entertainment gambling. Cricket is the most popular sport on FairPlay, followed by football and tennis. All matches are streamed live for players to watch and win simultaneously.
The Mahadev betting app, which is also owned by the Mahadev Group, provides platforms for illegal betting in live games like cricket, poker, badminton, tennis, football card games, and chance games. The Mahadev betting app faced scrutiny last year when actors Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor appeared in ads for the app, leading to their questioning by the Enforcement Directorate.
