Tamil Nadu BSP Chief Murder Accused Shot Dead in Extrajudicial Killing

K Thiruvengadam, one of the 11 accused in the murder of Tamil Nadu BSP chief K Armstrong, was shot dead by police on Saturday. The incident, described by police as an extrajudicial killing, occurred during a search for evidence related to the murder.

According to police, Thiruvengadam, 33, was taken to a spot near a lake in Madhavaram, where weapons used in Armstrong’s murder were believed to be hidden. During the search, Thiruvengadam allegedly attempted to attack the police with the recovered weapons and escape. In response, the police shot him. Thiruvengadam was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Prior to the incident, Thiruvengadam had been in police custody since July 11. He was apprehended following investigations that revealed he had been following Armstrong for several days leading up to the murder on July 6. Thiruvengadam was reportedly keeping a close watch on Armstrong’s activities.
