Tamil Nadu’s First Floating Restaurant to Enhance Tourism Appeal

The Tamil Nadu Tourism Department has announced the completion of its innovative ‘floating restaurant’ project at Muttukadu Boat House on East Coast Road. This new venture, which promises to offer a unique dining experience on the water, is ready for inauguration. The project, valued at Rs 5 crore, is the first of its kind in the state and has been executed through a public-private partnership involving the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) and Cochin-based Grandeur Marine International. Named ‘Seanz Cruise’, the floating restaurant is a double-decker vessel measuring 125 feet in length and 25 feet in width. It is fully air-conditioned, ensuring comfort for all guests. Although the tariff packages have yet to be finalized, officials have already received numerous inquiries from individuals interested in booking the cruise for high tea and other social gatherings. The lower floor of the cruise ship will feature live music performances, a stage with a DJ, and a television screen. This space is designed to accommodate office conferences, small parties, and events like birthday celebrations. The upper floor will offer an open-air view, ideal for watching the sunset. The cruise will operate throughout the week, beginning service as early as 7:30 AM for breakfast. Group breakfast orders can be accommodated, adding to the cruise’s appeal as a versatile event venue. This floating restaurant is expected to significantly enhance the tourism appeal of Tamil Nadu by offering a novel and luxurious dining experience. The integration of live entertainment and scenic views is likely to attract both domestic and international tourists. The project’s emphasis on safety and comfort will ensure a high-quality experience, contributing to the overall growth of the region’s tourism industry.
