Tampa International Airport Prepares for Busy Summer Travel

Tampa International Airport (TPA) is gearing up for a bustling summer travel season, anticipating nearly 3.4 million passengers from Memorial Day to mid-August. This represents a 4% increase compared to 2023, with TPA averaging 238 flights and approximately 71,000 passengers daily over the summer.

To ensure a smooth travel experience, TPA officials advise passengers to arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights to allow ample time for parking, check-in, security clearance, and any last-minute needs before boarding.

TPA recommends several additional tips to enhance travelers’ journeys:

– Utilize Express Curbsides for faster drop-off and pick-up, bypassing regular lanes.
– Plan parking ahead by booking online, helping manage garage space availability and simplifying parking for all.
– Check weather forecasts before your flight, as Florida experiences frequent thunderstorms. Early morning flights typically have better on-time performance.
– Avoid circling roadways by using the Cell Phone Waiting Lot, which offers amenities like restrooms, free Wi-Fi, and EV charging stations.
– Minimize wait times by using self-serve boarding pass kiosks and ordering food online via Uber Eats.
– Leave pets at home, except for service animals or those traveling. Pets must be kept in carriers or on short leashes within the terminals.

TPA offers various amenities for passengers’ convenience, including Nursing Rooms, Pet Relief areas, water bottle filling stations, a USO office, Travelers Aid, and Sunflower Lanyards for individuals with hidden disabilities.
