Cody Bellinger joined Tauchman in the home run parade, hitting a two-run shot in the first inning off Astros starter J.P. France. Tauchman then put the Cubs up 5-0 with his three-run homer. The Astros managed to get on the board in the second inning, but Tauchman extended the Cubs’ lead to 6-2 with a solo homer in the eighth inning. Jordan Wicks earned the win for the Cubs, allowing two runs on five hits in six innings, while France took the loss for the Astros, giving up five runs on five hits and four walks in five innings. The win marks the Cubs’ seventh in their last 10 games, while the Astros have now lost six of their last seven. The loss also drops the Astros to 7-17, the first time they have been 10 games under .500 since 2016.
