Taylor Swift Breaks Spotify Records with ‘The Tortured Poets Department’

Taylor Swift’s latest musical offering, ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ has shattered Spotify’s streaming records. Upon its release last Friday, the album amassed a staggering 300 million streams in a single day, marking an unprecedented feat in Spotify’s history.

Swift’s dominance extended beyond the album’s overall performance. She also became Spotify’s most-streamed artist within a 24-hour period, dethroning her previous record set with ‘Midnights’ in 2022.

The album’s lead single, ‘Fortnight,’ featuring Post Malone, also soared to new heights, becoming Spotify’s most-streamed song in a single day. As of Monday morning, ‘Fortnight’ had garnered nearly 40 million streams independently.

Swift’s 11th studio album, which she describes as ‘autobiographical,’ initially launched with 16 songs on Friday at midnight. However, just two hours later, she surprised fans with ‘The Anthology,’ an additional 15 tracks.

Swift’s remarkable achievement surpasses her own previous single-day album streaming records held by ‘Midnights’ and ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version),’ released in 2023. With ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ she now reigns supreme over Spotify’s top three spots for this coveted record.
