Taylor Swift’s ‘Florida!!!’ Track Inspired by True Crime Shows

Taylor Swift’s domination of the music industry continues with her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which broke Spotify’s single-day streaming record with 300 million streams on its release day, April 19. The album initially consisted of 16 songs, but Swift later released 15 additional tracks for “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology,” totaling 31 songs.

Among these songs, “Florida!!!” (feat. Florence + the Machine) has resonated particularly well with Floridians. The song expresses themes of reinvention, escaping the past, and finding a new beginning. Swift has explained that the song was inspired by true crime shows, which often depict criminals fleeing to Florida to disappear and start fresh.

Swift has also revealed that the three exclamation marks in the song title symbolize her three stops in Florida during her “Eras Tour.” She performed sold-out shows at Raymond James Stadium in April 2023 and will return to the state for a show at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami during the tour’s second U.S. leg in October.
