Taylor Swift’s latest music video, ‘Fortnight,’ which features a collaboration with Post Malone, has caught the attention of fans who believe it contains numerous references to her former boyfriend, Matty Healy of The 1975.
The video is predominantly shot in black and white, a stylistic choice that The 1975 has employed in their own music videos, such as ‘All I Need to Hear’ and ‘I’m in Love With You.’ In one scene, Swift and Post Malone are clad in identical long black coats, pants, and loafers, reminiscent of the attire worn by Healy’s band in the video for their 2022 song ‘Part of the Band.’ Later in the video, Swift is shown strapped to a box, a visual that bears a striking resemblance to The 1975’s official logo.
Beyond the visual parallels, there are several other cues that fans believe point to Healy. For instance, Post Malone, as well as actors Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles, appear in the ‘Fortnight’ video wearing lab coats and glasses, which was the uniform sported by The 1975 during their 2022 At Their Very Best Tour. Additionally, Swift wears a headpiece in the video that is similar to the crown Healy wore in ‘Part of the Band.’
The ‘Fortnight’ video also includes a brief appearance by a black dog, which some fans have connected to The 1975’s 2022 song of the same name.
While Taylor Swift has not explicitly confirmed that the ‘Fortnight’ music video is intended as a homage to Matty Healy, the numerous parallels and references have led many fans to believe that it is indeed the case.
