Following the release of Taylor Swift’s album and its apparent diss track, Kim Kardashian’s Instagram followers have taken a significant hit, dropping by 120,000 and continuing to decline. Kim’s follower count stands at 363 million, a decrease from her previous total of 364.3 million.
Taylor’s fans, known as ‘Swifties,’ have actively voiced their support for the singer by commenting the name of the diss track, ‘thanK you aIMee,’ on Kim’s Instagram posts. This action marks a reversal of roles from 2016, when Kim’s fans flooded Taylor’s photos with snake emojis.
While Kim hasn’t directly acknowledged the song’s apparent target, she did discuss her unusual sleep habit of keeping her eyes open during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel. She has also been actively promoting her new SKIMS collection.
Taylor herself has not explicitly confirmed that the song is about Kim, despite the capitalized ‘KIM’ in the title. However, the lyrics appear to reference the pair’s past conflict, with Taylor singing, ‘All that time you were throwin’ punches, I was buildin’ somethin’ / And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel / Screamed, ‘F**k you, Aimee’ to the night sky as the blood was gushin’ / But I can’t forget the way you made me heal.’
In the song, Taylor portrays her bully as ‘Aimee,’ expressing that their conflicts were never on equal footing. She sings about the bully ‘laughing at each baby step I’d take’ and ‘stomping across’ her ‘grave.’
‘Swifties’ also believe that Taylor’s song ‘Cassandra’ may reference her rift with Kim. In response to GQ’s inquiries, Kim has maintained that Taylor had given Kanye the green light to use her name in his verse for ‘Famous.’ Kim claims she followed proper protocol and that Taylor ‘totally knew that that was coming out,’ later stating, ‘She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t.’
