TCL NXTFrame: A New Challenger to The Frame TV

TCL has released its answer to Samsung’s popular The Frame TV, introducing the TCL NXTFrame. Available in 55-, 65-, 75-, and 85-inch sizes, the NXTFrame comes in both regular and “pro” versions, with prices starting at $1,500. The three smallest sizes are available starting August 5th, while the 85-inch models will arrive in stores and online in September. TCL claims the NXTFrame is the world’s thinnest “All-In-One” TV, boasting a 1.1-inch deep chassis for the 55- to 75-inch models.

The NXTFrame and NXTFrame Pro are identical in terms of the TV portion, with the Pro models adding a 3.1.2 soundbar and wireless subwoofer system co-engineered by TCL and Bang & Olufsen (B&O). TCL emphasizes that the audio system utilizes B&O’s BeoSonic, a proprietary digital interface enabling users to customize their sound experience seamlessly. Whether you opt for the Pro model’s B&O enhancements or not, the NXTFrame supports Dolby Atmos through its built-in 20-watt speakers.

Similar to Samsung’s The Frame and Hisense’s CanvasTV, TCL’s NXTFrame is designed for flush-mounting on the wall and includes mounting hardware. Unlike the CanvasTV, however, you won’t find regular table feet included. TCL sells these as a $150 accessory. They also offer a movable floor stand for $700, accommodating both the TV and the Pro model’s soundbar.

The NXTFrame’s dual role as a TV and digital gallery display is further enhanced by its matte anti-glare screen. It features a white bezel that TCL claims complements most decor, but also includes a light wood-colored magnetic frame that can be snapped on, offering a different aesthetic. Both Samsung and Hisense offer magnetic frames, but they charge extra. The NXTFrame comes with a preloaded art library with adjustable matting styles for various sizes, finishes, and colors. There are also several static and motion personal photo gallery options, plus a screen saver mode and background music capability.

Intriguingly, the NXTFrame incorporates an “AI Art” feature that creates unique art pieces by asking you a few questions to customize the experience. This allows for a personalized and curated aesthetic. The NXTFrame’s 4K QLED panel is compatible with Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG, and supports 120Hz/144Hz variable refresh rate (VRR), along with Motion Rate 480 motion smoothing. This TV boasts an Auto Game Mode, AMD FreeSync Premium, and 240 VRR for optimal gaming performance. Powered by Google TV, the NXTFrame offers a wide range of streaming and smart home technologies, including Apple AirPlay 2, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit.
