TCS Opens Aviation Digital Center in Portugal, Boosting TAP Air Portugal’s Digital Transformation

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading global IT consultancy and technology provider, has opened its Aviation Digital Center in Alfragide near Lisbon, Portugal. This follows a strategic partnership with TAP Air Portugal, established in 2022 after an international tender. This collaboration aims to accelerate TAP’s digital transformation and technological innovation.

Through this partnership, TCS is helping TAP streamline and modernize its system architecture, enhance customer experience, and boost operational performance, ultimately benefiting the airline’s customers. The new Aviation Digital Center is staffed by TCS consultants, solution architects, and technology experts who leverage cutting-edge digital technologies, such as cloud computing, data analysis, and automation.

This center is part of the TCS European Delivery Network and will also serve as a nearshore facility for other global TCS clients in the transportation sector. This initiative is expected to create more technology jobs in Portugal.

With a workforce of 75 highly qualified professionals, the TCS Aviation Digital Center is poised to tap into Portugal’s thriving talent pool, serving clients across Europe and driving innovation in the aviation industry.

Luís Rodrigues, CEO of TAP, stated that “TAP is continuing its ambitious transformation plan and TCS was selected as a partner based on its deep experience in the airline industry, proven track record of carrying out digital transformations and technological leadership. We are very pleased to confirm that this partnership established with TAP attracted this TCS investment to Portugal, which creates a center of technological expertise that is unparalleled in our country and even in Europe.”

“The TCS Aviation Digital Center sets itself apart by offering deep global industry expertise and technology capabilities unique to the needs of airlines and transportation companies right here in Europe. It is a demonstration of our continuing commitment to the European market, and we are eager to expand our partnerships with European airlines and transportation companies embarking on enterprise transformation journeys to hone their competitive edge and build more resilient and sustainable businesses,” said Krishnan Ramanujam, President, Consumer Business Group, TCS.
