India’s leading IT services company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has received a significant boost through its ₹15,000 crore deal with state-owned telecom giant Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL). According to a recent report by the Economic Times, further details about this massive project have been revealed.
As part of this transformative agreement, TCS and the government agency C-DOT will collaboratively deploy India’s first locally developed 4G network solution across the entire service area of BSNL. This ambitious project entails the installation of equipment at 38 strategic locations.
TCS’s ₹15,000 crore 4G deal with BSNL extends beyond network deployment to encompass the establishment of large data centers. As explained by N Ganapathy Subramaniam, TCS COO, to the Economic Times, this intricate process involves the installation of two primary data centers and their corresponding disaster recovery servers across four regions. Additionally, 30 data centers will be set up in each telecom circle.
The project completion target has been set for June, as per the report in the Economic Times.
TCS has also formed a partnership with ITI Ltd to establish 100,000 4G sites for BSNL. TCS will undertake 80% of the project, while ITI will handle the remaining 20%.
This latest revelation from TCS’s COO regarding the establishment of large data centers closely follows the company’s announcement of its Q4 results, which surpassed analysts’ expectations. Last Friday, TCS reported a 9% growth in net profit to ₹12,434 crore, attributing this success to improved margins and the strong performance of its India business.
