TD Garden’s Quick Transformation for Bruins and Celtics Playoff Games

After the conclusion of a Bruins playoff game on Saturday, the staff at Boston’s TD Garden had less than a day to transform the arena for a Celtics playoff game and then had to go in reverse to prepare for the Bruins’ second game on Monday night.

TD Garden is one of just five venues hosting both NHL and NBA playoff games during the postseason. Time-lapse video shows how they manage to do it.

Video shows a black layer of flooring being laid on top of the Bruins’ ice after Saturday’s win before the Celtics’ parquet floor is assembled like a jigsaw puzzle. Extra bleachers and seating are added around the edges.

After the Celtics victory on Sunday, the process goes in reverse and the ice is again revealed.

In addition to the high-stakes games, TD Garden is also featuring special celebratory events and foods for fans. That includes using 12 laser projectors hung in the rafters to present a show across the full ice rink before games.
