Team India Unveils Vibrant Orange Jersey for T20 World Cup

In a significant departure from the previous all-blue jersey worn during the home series against Afghanistan earlier this year, the new India T20 World Cup jersey features a distinctive orange hue near the shoulders. The signature three white stripes of Adidas remain a prominent feature. Notably, the Dream11 logo is no longer present on the sleeves, while the BCCI emblem boasts a single star, representing India’s lone T20 World Cup triumph in 2007 under MS Dhoni’s leadership.

Rohit Sharma, the current captain, aspires to emulate Dhoni’s achievement and bring home India’s first World Cup trophy since the 50-over tournament victory in 2011. This victory would also mark an end to India’s protracted ICC trophy drought, which dates back to the 2013 Champions Trophy win, also under Dhoni’s guidance.

Rohit narrowly missed breaking the unwanted streak last year when India fell to Australia in the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup. This will be the second time Rohit will lead India in a T20 World Cup, having overseen their campaign in 2022 in Australia, which ended in the semifinals.

India’s T20 World Cup journey commences on June 5 with a match against Ireland in New York. They will then face their arch-rivals Pakistan on June 9 at the same venue. The other two members of Group A are Canada and co-hosts USA.
