Gonda police arrested 18-year-old Mukesh on Monday in connection with the murder of 15-year-old Manish Yadav. Manish’s body was found on Sunday evening with multiple stab wounds.
Mukesh, who is a class 12 student, initially pleaded innocence. However, he later confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Mukesh told police that he killed Manish because Manish used to harass his sister. He said that he had warned Manish several times to stop harassing his sister, but Manish refused to listen.
On Sunday night, Mukesh found Manish alone in a wheat field. He attacked Manish with a sharp-edged weapon and then dumped his body in the field.
Police are still investigating whether Mukesh acted alone or if he had help. They have registered an FIR based on the complaint of the victim’s family. The victim’s relatives had raised suspicion on Mukesh’s family, which led to his arrest.
