Long Beach Teenagers Charged with Assaulting Homeless Man
Three Southern California teenagers have been charged with assault and conspiracy after allegedly beating a homeless man with tent poles and a tripod in Long Beach on Saturday evening.
Officers responded to a reported assault near a dog park and public library in downtown Long Beach around 6:30 p.m. They found a man with non-life-threatening injuries to his upper body. The man, believed to be experiencing homelessness, refused medical transport.
According to police, the attackers approached the man and got into an argument before striking him and throwing objects at him. The teens, ages 12, 14, and 15, fled the scene but were apprehended nearby.
Each of the suspects has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, assault, and conspiracy to commit a crime. The identities of the victim and the suspects have not been released.
The incident remains under investigation.
