Telangana CM Questions Modi’s Retirement Age, Economic Policies

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has taken a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his advancing age. Reddy questioned whether PM Modi will retire at 75, just like BJP veterans LK Advani and Murali Manohar Joshi. Addressing a press conference, the Congress leader said, “He has set 75 years as the retirement age for elected representatives in the BJP. That is how he has forcefully retired LK Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi, and other senior leaders. Now that Narendra Modi himself is approaching 74 years, with just one more year to go, I want to pose the same question to him. Are you ready to retire at the age of 75?”

CM Revanth Reddy also took PM Modi to task over his economic policies. He said, “I want to remind you that from 1947 to 2014, 14 prime ministers, over a period of nearly 67 years, borrowed a total of 55 lakh crores. PM Modi has borrowed 113 lakh crores by himself. He has ruined this country. The country is facing a crisis. He needs to take responsibility for this. So, we will not believe any documents he submits because he is capable of stooping to any level to win elections. He has no integrity or credibility.”

Recently, PM Modi had said that the people of Telangana have to bear the burden of double ‘R’ tax. “Since the time the Congress has come to power in Telangana, there has been talk of double ‘R’ tax. One ‘R’ stands for Telangana, and the other for Delhi. Both of them together have turned Hyderabad and Telangana into an ATM,” PM Modi said. He further added that the people of the city also have to bear the burden of “razakar” tax. “Here in Hyderabad, you have to bear the burden of triple R tax. Here, one R stands for Razakars. How this Razakar tax operates is evident in Old Hyderabad. The supporters of Congress and BRS and the Majlis MP, who have been in power for a long time, have not even provided basic facilities to the people,” PM Modi said.

The Lok Sabha elections in Telangana will be held on May 13 for all 17 seats. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
