Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has bestowed a significant honor upon Paralympic athlete Deepthi Jeevanji, recognizing her remarkable achievement at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. Deepthi, who secured a bronze medal in the 400m T20 final, has been awarded a cash incentive of one crore rupees by the state government. In addition to this substantial reward, the Chief Minister announced the allocation of a 500 square yard plot of land for Deepthi’s future home, signifying the state’s commitment to supporting her success and future endeavors.
Deepthi’s journey to the podium has been marked by unwavering determination and resilience. Hailing from Kalleda village in Warangal, she has consistently pushed boundaries, showcasing her exceptional athletic prowess. Her bronze medal win in Paris, achieved with a time of 55.82 seconds, further solidifies her position as a rising star in the world of Paralympic sports.
Beyond her recent triumph, Deepthi has previously earned India’s first gold medal at the World Athletics Para Championship in Kobe, Japan, demonstrating her consistent excellence on the international stage. Her coach, N. Ramesh, a Sports Authority of India athletics coach who recognized Deepthi’s talent and has been her mentor, was also acknowledged for his invaluable contribution. The state government has rewarded him with a Rs 10 lakh incentive, acknowledging his role in fostering Deepthi’s journey to success.
