Temple Trustees in Tamil Nadu Booked for Alleged Misappropriation of Funds

Following a court order prompted by a resident’s petition, the Odiansalai police have registered a case against seven individuals responsible for managing the administration of Sri Angalaparameshwari Temple in Vambakeerapalayam. The petitioners alleged that the accused misappropriated funds collected from fishing hamlets for the operation of the temple and three adjacent smaller temples. Financial records revealed collections amounting to ₹85.75 lakh in 2021 and ₹30.54 lakh in 2022. However, the petitioner suspects that the actual amount collected was significantly higher and that the expenditure reported by the trustees was fabricated. The petitioners believe that the trustees have embezzled a substantial amount of money intended for temple affairs. The court has directed the investigating officer to file a report within a reasonable time frame after conducting a thorough investigation.
