Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has praised Bruno Fernandes’ leadership and impressive form after the Portuguese midfielder played a crucial role in the team’s 4-2 Premier League win over Sheffield United. Fernandes scored United’s second equalizer and winning goal, extending his tally to seven goals in the last five games and becoming the club’s top scorer this season with 15 goals.
Ten Hag hailed Fernandes’ leadership qualities, particularly his energy and ability to encourage his teammates. He also credited Fernandes’ understanding of his role and his ability to create chances, score goals, and provide assists.
“Not only tonight, he’s in very good form,” Ten Hag said. “I think we put him in the right position, he finds the right spots. He’s in that position also and his feeling, he makes the right decisions, he can create a lot, score a goal, give assists, key actions. So very pleased with his performance.”
United recovered from being 1-0 and 4-2 down to win for only the second time in their last eight Premier League games. Despite the victory, Ten Hag expressed concerns about the team’s tendency to make mistakes, emphasizing the need to maintain focus and eliminate errors to achieve their goals.
“We can’t keep making such mistakes,” Ten Hag said. “And the top level if you want to achieve your targets, if you want to win trophies, then you have to stop this process.”
Ten Hag also acknowledged the team’s progress, particularly in their attacking play, highlighting their creativity and ability to create chances.
“You see the team is progressing, the goals that we score from January on. The attacking, we are very creative, creating a lot of chances.”
