Tennis Star Madhvin Kamath Accused of Cyber Crime in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad Cyber Crime has initiated a case against internationally renowned tennis player Madhvin Kamath, a resident of Ahmedabad. The case alleges that Kamath downloaded a photo of a female acquaintance from Instagram and manipulated it, superimposing the words “escort service” and the girl’s mobile number on the image.
The victim became aware of the defamatory poster after receiving a phone call from an unknown number offering escort services. A police investigation revealed that someone had indeed downloaded her photo from Instagram and created a poster with her personal information and the aforementioned defamatory message. The victim immediately reported the incident to the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Cell.
CCTV footage obtained from the locations where the posters were displayed revealed a young man on a scooter placing them. The girl identified the man as Madhvin Kamath, an international tennis player and an acquaintance of hers. Kamath is currently in France for a tennis tournament, but police intend to question him upon his return and take appropriate action.
According to the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Officer, the CCTV footage serves as crucial evidence in the case. Given Kamath’s acquaintance with the victim, it is suspected that personal animosity may have motivated his actions. The investigation is ongoing, and further developments are expected.
