Terence Crawford Returns on August 3rd for Super-Welterweight Bout in Los Angeles

Terence Crawford, the reigning undisputed welterweight champion, will make his return to the ring on August 3rd at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. He will challenge Israil Madrimov for the WBA super-welterweight title in the main event of a stacked card that features a host of other notable fighters.

Crawford, who is widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world, last fought in July 2022, when he delivered a dominant performance to defeat Errol Spence Jr. and unify the welterweight division. The 36-year-old is now moving up to super-welterweight in an attempt to become a four-division champion.

Standing in Crawford’s way is Madrimov, an undefeated 29-year-old from Uzbekistan who won the vacant WBA title with a stoppage victory over Magomed Kurbanov in March. The Uzbek southpaw will be a formidable opponent for Crawford, but the American will be confident of extending his unbeaten record to 40-0.

The undercard for the Crawford-Madrimov fight is equally impressive. Andy Ruiz Jr., the former unified heavyweight champion, will take on Jarrell Miller in a heavyweight clash. Undefeated rising star Vergil Ortiz Jr. will face Tim Tszyu in a super welterweight bout. Isaac Cruz, the current WBA super-lightweight champion, will defend his belt against Jose Valenzuela. Other notable fighters on the card include David Morrell, Radivoje Kalajdzic, and Andy Cruz.

The event is being promoted by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing, who described it as “the best card I’ve ever seen in US boxing.” It is set to be a memorable night of boxing action in Los Angeles, with fans treated to several world-class fights.
