Tesla Cybertruck Tire Recommendations: All-Season for Efficiency, Winter Tires for Snow

Tesla Cybertruck lead engineer Wes Morrill has weighed in on the best tire choices for the futuristic electric truck, offering guidance for both everyday driving and snowy conditions. Morrill emphasizes the efficiency and handling advantages of all-season tires, highlighting their custom construction for a balance of performance and reduced road noise. He recommends them for optimal everyday driving.

However, when it comes to navigating snowy roads, Morrill acknowledges the superiority of all-terrain tires. While neither tire type is ideal for snowy conditions, he advocates for 3-peak rated tires for optimal winter performance. To cater to this need, Tesla plans to offer a 3-peak winter tire package for Cybertruck owners seeking the best winter performance. The company is working on making this package available “soon,” Morrill stated.

Morrill’s update addresses concerns regarding the Cybertruck’s performance in snow, particularly after videos surfaced on social media last year questioning its capabilities. Tesla CEO Elon Musk refuted these concerns, claiming the truck is “excellent” in snow. However, with Cybertruck deliveries starting in late November last year, only a few vehicles were on the road during the previous winter. As Tesla ramps up Cybertruck production, with a target of 250,000 units delivered annually starting in 2025, more Cybertrucks will be navigating diverse weather conditions.

Tesla’s commitment to offering a dedicated winter tire package underscores their focus on ensuring the Cybertruck remains a capable and reliable vehicle, regardless of the season.
