Tesla Earnings Preview: Analysts Seek Signs of Brighter Outlook Amidst Challenges

Tesla investors are closely watching the company’s upcoming earnings report for any indication of improvement in its current struggles. Shares have plummeted over 40% this year, reaching their lowest point since January 2023, amid concerns over demand, price cuts, a Cybertruck recall, and competition from Chinese rivals.

Analysts are keen to see if Tesla can persuade Wall Street of its future growth potential. Tesla’s first-quarter deliveries fell by 8.5% year over year, marking its first decline since 2020. Production also dropped by 1.7%. The company attributed these declines to supply disruptions caused by Houthi militia attacks on the Red Sea and factory disruptions.

Analysts project a significant decline in earnings per share for the first quarter, with estimates of 51 cents per share, representing a 39.8% year-over-year drop. Revenue is anticipated to reach $22.151 billion, a 5.1% decrease from the same period last year. Several Wall Street firms have lowered their price targets ahead of the earnings announcement, predicting that the company may reduce its delivery projections for the remainder of the year.

Investors will be particularly attentive to CEO Elon Musk’s comments on Tesla’s demand outlook and growth initiatives, such as the Model 2 and robotaxi. Reuters reported that Tesla had scrapped plans for its entry-level Model 2, but Musk has denied this claim. Nonetheless, there have been no further updates on the project.

Analysts are concerned that a delay in the Model 2 release could further pressure Tesla’s shares. Deutsche Bank analyst Emmanuel Rosner believes it would put pressure on 2026 earnings estimates and make the company’s future contingent on the successful development of fully driverless autonomy.

On the other hand, some analysts, like Morgan Stanley’s Adam Jonas, remain optimistic. Despite the challenges facing the EV market, Jonas believes Tesla will seize the opportunity presented by a downturn in the sector.

总之,特斯拉即将发布的收益报告将为投资者提供有关公司当前处境和未来前景的重要见解。分析师们将密切关注交付、产量、每股收益以及关于 Model 2 和 robotaxi 计划的更新。
