Texas Twins’ Horrific Death: Parents Arrested for Alleged Starvation and Beatings

In a tragic incident, twin baby sisters, just six weeks old, were found dead in their Texas home, victims of an alleged horrific case of child abuse. Authorities were alerted to the unresponsive infants at a Linden Creek Way residence on October 4, shortly after 11:15 am.

Assistant District Attorney Eddie Applebaum described the allegations as appalling, stating that the infants displayed signs of blunt force trauma, severe malnutrition, and both old and recent injuries. An autopsy conducted by the Houston Police Department revealed that the unnamed twins had sustained multiple blunt object injuries that ultimately led to their deaths.

Upon discovering the infants, police noted discolored skin, various bruises, and contusions. A subsequent autopsy performed by Dr. Jesus Rico of the Harris County Institute of Forensic Science revealed extensive injuries on one of the twins, including dehydration and contusions spread across their body. Additionally, both infants showed signs of malnutrition, with one exhibiting evidence of acute brain bleeding and the other suffering hemorrhaging in the brain and spinal cord, indicating recent trauma.

As a result of these findings, the parents, Angelina Belinda Calderon and Fernando Vega, have been charged with causing serious bodily injury to a child. They are currently being held in Harris County Jail with bail set at $750,000 each. Vega is expected in court on May 29, while Calderon’s next court appearance is scheduled for Friday.

This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the devastating consequences of child abuse and the importance of reporting suspected cases to the authorities.
