Thai Airways, Thailand’s flag carrier, is making substantial progress in modernizing its operations with advanced technology solutions provided by Amadeus. The airline is focused on enhancing the travel experience for passengers and increasing revenue in the post-pandemic era, leading to a major transformation across its operations. To achieve these goals, Thai Airways has renewed and expanded its distribution agreement with Amadeus, further bolstering its travel retailing capabilities. Amadeus travel sellers in Thailand will continue to have access to Thai Airways’ domestic content. Additionally, the airline is revamping its website and mobile booking channels to deliver a seamless and personalized travel experience. Amadeus Reference Experience will provide a modern, responsive, and customizable user interface, while the enhanced booking flow will allow travelers to seamlessly switch devices throughout their booking journey. Passengers will gain the ability to manage flight bookings, check-in, and handle disruptions independently.
Thai Airways has also implemented Amadeus Travel Ready, facilitating international travelers to verify their travel documents (passports and visas) during the online check-in process. This streamlined approach accelerates manual document verification at check-in, bag drop, and boarding, ultimately reducing queues. To optimize network revenue, Thai Airways will leverage Amadeus Network Revenue Management. This technology will assist the airline in building routes through connecting hubs, codeshares, or partnerships, utilizing machine learning and customer choice modeling techniques to optimize pricing and availability decisions.
Finally, Thai Airways will adopt the Xchange Payment Platform (XPP) from Outpayce, Amadeus’ payments business. This platform empowers the airline to accept a variety of card and alternative payment methods globally. XPP offers enhanced orchestration and analytics to refine the airline’s payment strategy, improve acceptance rates, and connect with specialist partners for services like cross-border acquiring, authentication, and fraud management.
Nuthaphol Amawatana, Head of Pricing and Revenue Management at Thai Airways, stated, “This is a significant technology investment and upgrade for Thai Airways and will provide the building blocks of our business transformation. We will now be able to offer travelers a more modern and seamless booking experience whether they are visiting our website or searching for travel via our mobile app. We are also pleased to continue our content agreements with Amadeus and look forward to exploring new opportunities. Thai Airways is confident in its choice of Amadeus as a technology partner for the decades to come.”
Javier Laforgue, Executive Vice President, Travel Unit & Managing Director, Asia Pacific at Amadeus, commented, “Thai Airways has long been an important and strategic partner of Amadeus. The agreement signed today is a milestone for us, and we look forward to working hand in hand with the carrier on its transformation journey. We are confident that our technology will continue to support Thai Airways’ growth ambitions and enable the carrier to achieve its business goals.”
