Thailand and China Strengthen Tourism Partnership to Boost Visitor Numbers

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Tuniu Corporation, a leading online travel service provider in China, have taken their partnership to the next level by signing a Letter of Intent (LOI). This agreement marks a significant step in their joint efforts to boost tourism between the two countries. The signing ceremony, held at the TAT Head Office in Bangkok, was attended by Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT, Mr. Yu Dunde, Founder and CEO of Tuniu Corporation, and Mrs. Chang Yumeng, Counsellor for Cultural Affairs at the Chinese Embassy in Thailand. The presence of these dignitaries emphasizes the importance of this strategic alliance.

Thailand has set an ambitious goal to attract 7.3 million Chinese tourists this year. The country has already welcomed over 4.5 million visitors from China, a success attributed to initiatives like the mutual visa exemption, the “Nihao Month” celebrations, and targeted marketing campaigns. The partnership with Tuniu plays a key role in reaching these ambitious targets.

The LOI outlines key areas of collaboration:

*

Joint Marketing Campaigns:

The TAT and Tuniu will work together to develop and execute targeted marketing campaigns aimed at attracting Chinese tourists to Thailand.
*

Influencer Outreach:

The partnership will leverage the power of Key Opinion Consumers (KOCs) and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to promote Thailand across major Chinese digital platforms like Xiaohongshu, WeChat, TikTok, and Weibo.
*

Joint Promotions:

The TAT and Tuniu will collaborate on joint promotions for specific travel packages and experiences, combining Thailand’s diverse tourism offerings with Tuniu’s online platforms.

This year, the TAT and Tuniu have already launched several successful initiatives, including:

*

Health and Wellness Tourism Campaign:

This campaign aimed to raise awareness among Chinese tourists about Thailand’s thriving health and wellness tourism sector.
*

Summer Camp and Family Tour Promotion:

A joint promotion focused on attracting families to Thailand for summer vacations.
*

Diverse Tour Package Campaign:

The current campaign showcases Thailand’s diverse tourism offerings through a range of tour packages available on Tuniu’s online platforms.

The partnership between the TAT and Tuniu demonstrates a commitment to further strengthening the tourism relationship between Thailand and China. By combining resources, expertise, and marketing channels, the two organizations are poised to achieve significant growth in Chinese tourism to Thailand.
