The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently hosted the “Amazing Thailand Travel Fair 2024” in Taipei, Taiwan, from August 10th to 11th. The event showcased a rich tapestry of travel experiences and special offers, designed to entice Taiwanese visitors to explore the diverse wonders of Thailand.
The fair served as a platform to celebrate the newly implemented visa exemption for Taiwanese tourists, a move aimed at strengthening the already strong friendship between the two nations. Mr. Nithee Seeprae, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications, emphasized the event’s significance: “The Amazing Thailand Travel Fair celebrates the newly implemented visa exemption for Taiwanese tourists, while strengthening the friendship between Thailand and Taiwan. We hope the event will inspire Taiwanese travelers to visit Thailand for our beautiful attractions, diverse cuisines, vibrant festivals, and warm hospitality.”
The fair was a collaborative effort involving TAT and key partners, including the Thailand Trade and Economic Office – Taipei, the Department of Information and Tourism of Taipei City Government, National Chengchi University, the Thai Trade Office – Taipei, and local tour operators and airlines.
To capture the spirit of the upcoming Loi Krathong Festival, the event was designed to entice Taiwanese tourists to experience the vibrant celebration in November. The campaign “Amazing Thailand: Your Stories Never End” was also highlighted, showcasing the country’s cultural allure through five engaging activities. These included traditional Thai dances, Muay Thai exhibitions, a Thai Xylophone solo performance by YouTube artist ‘Fino the Ranad’, drag performances by Natalia Pliacam from Drag Race Thailand Season I, and demonstrations on preparing Southern Thai milk tea (Cha Chuck) and Northeastern Thai (Isan) cuisine.
The fair also featured entertainment from Thai BoyLove/GirlLove celebrities, a workshop on crafting biodegradable krathongs, opportunities for guests to dress in traditional Thai costumes for photos, a lucky draw, and interactions with 30 tourism-related businesses, such as Thai restaurants, travel agencies, and airlines. These businesses offered exclusive travel deals and discounted fares.
Demonstrating TAT’s commitment to sustainable tourism, the fair utilized biodegradable materials for food and beverage servings and implemented effective waste management practices. This commitment to sustainability aligns with TAT’s objectives for high-value, sustainable tourism.
TAT aims to attract 768,000 Taiwanese visitors to Thailand in 2024. By the end of July, there had been 630,332 Taiwanese arrivals, signifying a remarkable 64% increase compared to the same period in 2023. The “Amazing Thailand Travel Fair 2024” served as a testament to Thailand’s dedication to attracting international tourists and showcasing the country’s diverse offerings, promising unforgettable travel experiences for all visitors.
