Thailand Hosts ‘Amazing Beach Life Festival’ to Boost Tourism During Green Season

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is bringing the ‘Amazing Beach Life Festival’ to Rayong, Phang-Nga, Phuket, and Songkhla, aiming to boost tourism during Thailand’s green season. This initiative, part of TAT’s plan to feature major events in the latter half of the year, highlights the appeal of the green season.

Dr. Phonpoom Vipattipumiprates, Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports, stated that the project embodies the government’s ‘Ignite Tourism Thailand’ vision, striving to make Thailand a tourism hub and a center for world-class events. This festival aims to achieve a tourism revenue target of 3.5 trillion Baht for this year, with aspirations for even greater figures in the coming years.

The chosen locations—Rayong, Phang-Nga, Phuket, and Songkhla—are renowned tourist destinations. The festival will commence at Laem Charoen Beach in Rayong from July 12-14, followed by Phang-Nga from July 26-28, Patong Beach in Phuket from August 2-4, and conclude at Chalatat Beach in Songkhla from August 9-11.

Festival activities include a range of exciting options. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy SUP boarding and surfskating. Music lovers can catch performances by popular Thai artists and top DJs. There will be beach party tattoos and DIY workshops for those seeking creative experiences. The festival also features a fair showcasing local art and craft products, food trucks, a beach bar, and fashion items.

Mr. Apichai Chatchalermkit, TAT Deputy Governor of Tourism Products and Business, emphasized that the event seeks to encourage travel among foreign and Thai tourists with high purchasing power and an affinity for beach vibes and beach life. This initiative aims to distribute tourism benefits across local communities in the four beach resort destinations and nearby attractions during the off-season.

Each venue will possess its unique character, highlighted through installation art and inflatable landmarks. The festival emphasizes TAT’s commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism, evident in the eco-friendly decorations and a Thailand Tourism Awards booth showcasing award-winning sustainable tourism businesses. TAT has partnered with Global Chemical (PTTGC) to ensure effective waste management.

Mr. Chaya Chandavasu, Executive Vice President, Sustainability, PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC), explained that they will install their ‘YOUTURN Platform’ at the event to promote responsible tourism by encouraging tourists to participate in waste management processes. Visitors can join DIY activities, such as transforming plastic waste into keychains or beads. They can also explore sustainable fashion items crafted with ‘Revife Fiber by GC UPCYCLING’ at UPTOYOU, their clothing brand.
