The Ministry of Industry, Thailand, in collaboration with the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the Office of International Trade Promotion, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, has launched Thailand Week 2024, a major event designed to strengthen trade relations between Thailand and Malaysia. This high-profile event, hosted at the Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara, is a platform for businesses to network, collaborate, and explore new opportunities. The event focuses on showcasing Thailand’s diverse offerings, particularly in the halal food market.
At the heart of Thailand Week 2024 is the “Halal Food of the Future” campaign, highlighting Thailand’s commitment to the growing global demand for halal products. The campaign emphasizes Thailand’s culinary expertise and sustainability efforts, presenting the nation as a hub of innovation and cultural diversity. The event aims to not only boost Thailand’s trade potential but also position it as a forward-thinking leader in the halal food industry, capable of meeting the evolving needs of global consumers.
The inaugural event, held on September 30, 2024, facilitated connections between 20 Thai halal food companies and over 30 Malaysian businesses, fostering networking opportunities and potential partnerships. This initiative showcases the high quality and innovative nature of Thailand’s halal food products, demonstrating its ability to meet the diverse demands of the global halal market.
Building on the momentum of the press conference, Thailand Week 2024 will take place from October 16th to 19th at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), held alongside the 8th Selangor International Business Summit 2024. This event aims to create a dynamic platform for Malaysian businesses, importers, and consumers to connect with Thai companies across various sectors. The collaboration seeks to strengthen trade ties and foster long-term partnerships between the two nations.
Under the theme “Unlock Trade Opportunities, Unleash Business Potential,” Thailand Week 2024 will feature a diverse range of activities, including product exhibitions, business matching sessions, cultural showcases, and interactive workshops. Key sectors such as food and beverages, wellness, fashion, and innovation will be highlighted, with renowned brands like Red Bull, Maepranom Chilli Paste, and Snake Brand Prickly Heat Powder taking center stage.
Ambassador Lada Phumas, Thailand’s Ambassador to Malaysia, expressed strong confidence in the event’s success, building on the positive response to the 2023 Mini Thailand Week in Kota Kinabalu. She anticipates even greater attendance at the KLCC event, which aims to play a crucial role in achieving the ambitious goal of reaching USD30 billion in bilateral trade between Thailand and Malaysia by 2027.
Thailand Week 2024 is poised to be a pivotal event, fostering new collaborations and fueling economic development in both Thailand and Malaysia. By promoting its halal food sector, Thailand is solidifying its position as a leading player in this fast-growing industry, particularly in regions like Malaysia, where there is significant demand for halal products. This initiative underscores Thailand’s broader economic goals of diversifying its export portfolio and strengthening its presence in global markets through strategic collaborations and business opportunities in the halal food sector.
