Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘GOAT’ Experiences Box Office Decline on Day 2

Venkat Prabhu’s highly anticipated action thriller ‘GOAT’ (The Greatest of All Time), starring ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay in dual roles, has experienced a significant decline in box office collections on its second day. While the film opened strong, earning an impressive ₹ 44 crore on its release day, Day 2 collections dropped to ₹ 24.75 crore, marking a 43.75% decline. The film’s total earnings currently stand at ₹ 68.75 crore.

Despite the drop, ‘GOAT’ continues to perform well in certain regions, particularly in Tamil Nadu. According to Sacnilk, the film recorded an overall Tamil occupancy rate of 60.38% on Friday. Day 2 occupancy rates in Tamil (2D) theatres saw a slight decrease compared to the opening day, with morning shows recording 45.99% occupancy, afternoon shows at 55.14%, evening shows at 66.06%, and night shows at 74.32%.

The film’s regional occupancy rates on Day 2 show strong performances in Chennai (88.75%), Madurai (63.75%), Coimbatore (79.75%), Pondicherry (93.75%), Salem (67.25%), Vellore (67.50%), Dindigul (91.25%), Trichy (94.50%), and Bengaluru (34.25%). However, occupancy rates were considerably lower in Kochi (22.00%), Trivandrum (27.00%), Mumbai (24.75%), and the National Capital Region (NCR) (10.00%).

Thalapathy Vijay’s dynamic performance in the film’s trailer captivated fans, showcasing his role as a field agent and spy with an impressive record of over 65 successful missions. The trailer also offered a glimpse of his dual role, portraying both a father and a son.

Directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram, Kalpathi S. Ganesh, and Kalpathi S. Suresh of AGS Entertainment, ‘GOAT’ is anticipated to be a period science fiction film. The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Prashanth, Prabhudheva, Sneha, Ajmal Ameer, Vaibhav, Laila, Mohan, Aravind Akash, and Ajay Raj, who will play key roles as both allies and adversaries. Vijay’s previous film, ‘Leo’, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, was a successful action drama.
