Thalapathy Vijay’s latest action thriller, ‘GOAT’ (The Greatest Of All Time), experienced a significant rebound in its box office collections on Saturday, September 7th. According to the film industry tracker Sacnilk, the film raked in ₹33 crore net, marking a 29.41 percent jump from Friday’s earnings. This brings the film’s total earnings to ₹102.5 crore over its three-day run.
Directed by Venkat Prabhu, ‘GOAT’ had a strong opening day, minting ₹44 crore net. However, the film witnessed a notable dip in collections on its second day, earning ₹25.5 crore net. Despite this setback, ‘GOAT’ has maintained its momentum, particularly in Tamil Nadu. The film registered an overall Tamil occupancy rate of 72.58 percent on Saturday. Dindigul city witnessed the highest occupancy rate, reaching 98.25 percent, followed by Pondicherry and Trichy, both boasting occupancy rates of 97.50 percent.
The film features an ensemble cast including Thalapathy Vijay in dual roles, Prabhu Deva, Prashanth, Ajmal Ameer, Sneha, Meenakshii Chaudhary, Vaibhav, Laila, Mohan, Aravind Akash, Ajay Raj, and Yogi Babu. ‘GOAT’, which was produced by AGS Entertainment, is made on a budget of INR 400 crore.
While the film’s performance in India is promising, its international box office numbers are also impressive. Ahimsa Entertainment, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), reported that ‘GOAT’ earned £527k at the UK box office during its first two days. The company also noted that additional showtimes have been added, suggesting continued interest in the film.
Film trade analyst Taran adarsh, in a social media post on X, highlighted the importance of the Sunday performance, particularly in mass-market regions, where the film needs to maintain its momentum. He noted that a noticeable uptick in these areas could stabilize the *extended weekend* performance.
‘GOAT’s success follows Thalapathy Vijay’s previous box office hit, ‘Leo,’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The action-drama film also garnered significant box office returns, cementing Vijay’s position as one of the most successful actors in Tamil cinema. The strong opening weekend performance of ‘GOAT’ indicates that the film is on track to become another successful venture for the star, further solidifying his box office dominance.
