Four months after the death of Shivajirao Jondhale, a prominent figure in Thane’s education sector, a case of culpable homicide has been registered against five individuals, including his partner Geeta Khare and her family. The case stems from a police complaint filed by Jondhale’s son, Sagar, who accuses Khare and her family of causing his father’s death.
Sagar claims that despite his father’s deteriorating health due to liver cancer, Khare intentionally withheld a liver transplant, allegedly with the motive of taking control of his educational institute. Police have registered a case under sections related to ‘culpable homicide not amounting to murder’ and ‘conspiracy.’
Geeta Khare, who was unavailable for comment, served as secretary of the Vighnaharta Trust controlled by Shivajirao Jondhale. Sagar’s complaint was accepted by the Kalyan District and Sessions Court, which mandated Vishnu Nagar Police to file a case against Khare and the other accused. The other accused individuals include Khare’s son Harsh Kumar, daughters Sneha Khare and Varsha Deshmukh, and son-in-law Pritam Deshmukh.
According to police, Shivajirao had four children from his legal wife, Vaishali. He was president of the Samarth Samaj, an educational institution, where Geeta Khare joined as a teacher several years prior. Sagar’s complaint alleges that despite his willingness to donate his liver to his father, Geeta Khare and her family refused the transplant. This alleged negligence, according to Sagar, ultimately led to Shivajirao’s death in April.
Shivajirao Jondhale was the president of the Jondhale education group, which encompasses several engineering and technical institutes in Thane district. He was diagnosed with liver cancer two years prior to his death. His educational legacy and the circumstances surrounding his passing have sparked a legal battle that continues to unfold.
