Thatcher Demko’s Mysterious Injury Sidelines Him for Game 2

Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko will miss Game 2 of their playoff series against the Nashville Predators due to an undisclosed injury sustained in Game 1. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported the news on Canucks Talk, stating that the injury is new and that the timeline for Demko’s return is currently unknown.

Demko was injured in the third period of Game 1 after colliding with Predators forward Mikael Granlund. He was able to finish the game, but he was replaced by Jaroslav Halak in the second period of Game 2.

The Canucks have not released any information about the nature of Demko’s injury, but Friedman reported that it is not related to the hip injury that Demko suffered earlier this season.

The loss of Demko is a major blow to the Canucks, who are already without defenseman Tyler Myers due to injury. Halak will start in goal for the Canucks in Game 2, and he will be backed up by Michael DiPietro.
